The SAGA Health and Spa
Physicals and treatment program

When traveling to Iceland on business or for pleasure - the land of clean nature, health and beauty.

First on the agenda is:
Your own health!

Today’s executives face numerous challenges daily. And with the mental and physical demands of today’s business world, it becomes even more important to take good care of yourself. By choosing the Saga Health and Spa Physicals Program in Iceland, you have made a choice to safeguard one of your prime assets: Your health! Our program provides exceptional medical care with some of the best health care professionals in Iceland.

SAGA HEALTH AND SPA was founded by Gudmundur Björnsson MD, a native Icelander who specializes in medical rehabilitation and has extensive experience in the local Spa industry. His work is very much focused on rehabilitation, health promotion and sports medicine. Dr. Bjornsson is a former chairman of the Icelandic Medical Association, and a leading practitioner in the Icelandic medical community. Under his supervision, all of his staff’s preventative health care and rehabilitation experience and energy are now focused on the SAGA HEALTH AND SPA project, which involves working with individuals and companies, including insurance companies and pension funds. They all have a passion for excellence and a commitment for improving your health.

The health of Icelanders is among the best in the world. The average life expectancy is very high: 76.2 years for men and 80.6 for women. There is no single reason for this good health and long life, though there are several influential factors that will be discussed.

At Your Service

The Saga Health and Spa physicals program was created especially with the busy traveler and executive in mind.

Privacy and Confidentiality

All medical information is held as confidential, and cannot be released without your written consent.

Comprehensive Physicals

You will receive a package of services designed and administered by our expert health-care professionals. This includes a comprehensive health assessment, as well as health promotion and maintenance within a three-phase program.

Phase one!
- Your Personal and Family Medical History

First on the agenda is an in-depth review of your personal and family medical history. This enables our physicians to begin an assessment of your health status and needs even before you come in for your examination.

A comprehensive examination is not always the same for each patient. The age, sex, family and medical histories of an individual may indicate the need for certain tests and procedures during the examination because of specific health risks or concerns. To ensure that tests ordered or scheduled during your comprehensive examination are appropriate for you, the examining physician will review your medical history prior to your visit.

Phase two
- Your Complete Physical Examination

At the core of the Executive Physicals Program is a series of tests and procedures that are designed to aid in the early detection of medical problems. These are performed by certified physicians and a highly qualified medical staff.

Phase three
- Health Promotion

Nutrition Assessment and Counseling - Your Physical can also include a private nutrition consultation. After reviewing your medical history, current activities and eating habits, our doctor and a registered dietitian will design a personalized nutrition regimen based on your needs. During this one-on-one session, you will learn about modifying fat and cholesterol intake, the importance of vitamins and minerals to good nutrition, and ”Eating Right When Eating Out”.
