The
Clinic, operated by the Nature Health Association
of Iceland and located in Hveragerði, a half-hour
drive from Reykjavik, is a place of choice for all
those who are in need of rehabilitation, want to re-build
strength, or simply need a rest. The Clinic has earned
a solid reputation since its foundation in 1955.
The main clients of the NLFI Health Clinic are those
who suffer from back problems, rheumatism, arthritis,
stress, exhaustion and psoriasis. It also offers rehabilitation
to those who are recovering from heart problems or
cancer treatments.
The basic philosophy of the Clinic is to build up
the client´s health and sense of wellness, and
let the individual realize that only he or she is
responsible for their own health. The Clinic operates
along established treatment programs, providing guests
with different types of handling depending on their
needs. The main goal, however, is to make sure that
the stay at the Clinic, and the treatments provided,
result in maximum health benefits to the guest.
The Clinic does its best to meet the needs of all
guests by enhancing their physical as well as mental
well-being. During workdays, lectures, discussion
sessions (in Icelandic), hiking, water gymnastics,
back and neck exercises, and many other activities
are offered. Private consultations (supportive interviews)
are offered to guests who have suffered mental or
physical
traumas for various reasons. Programs of therapeutic
massage, mud and herbal baths have been offered by
the Clinic for many years, and more recently physiotherapy.

A nutritionist lectures on proper diets and offers
individual advice.
The Clinic offers its guests a rich variety of healthy
foods. Fish is on the menu twice a week, and vegetables
are organically grown in the Clinic´s own greenhouses.
As a result of close and effective co-operation between
you and our staff, you should expect significant improvements
to your health after your stay at the Clinic.
