Iceland
– Closer Than You Think

As reported here in Good Morning Iceland, there are lots of things going on in Iceland, a country unique among its European neighbors. Iceland is an island in the middle of the North Atlantic halfway between America and Europe. It’s only a four-hour flight from Iceland to the East Coast of the USA, making Iceland the easiest destination for those who want to experience Europe.

Icelandic culture stands on solid bedrock, and has compelling features. The country’s pristine natural environment is spectacular, pollution is virtually nonexistent, and few places in the world are more suited for travel by American tourists.

Recently, an exceptional health spa opened in Reykjavík––Laugar Spa. Enormous steps have been taken in Reykjavík’s health spa sector, focused around geothermal water, which is one of the country’s major natural resources.

This summer a new bathing lagoon will open at Mývatn in north-west Iceland. Mývatn is one of Iceland’s most beautiful areas: there is diverse bird life, geothermal fields, and grassy countryside. It is also a hub to many of the country’s most popular natural attractions.

The Blue Lagoon health spa is very close to Keflavík Airport. An ideal end to an Iceland visit is relaxing in the amazing waters of the Blue Lagoon before boarding the plane for the flight home.

It is quite apparent that foreign cruise ships will continue to visit Iceland in growing numbers over the coming years, since the country is being charted as an idyllic destination. Iceland’s natural environment is unique, and quite accessible. In addition, the country is well situated between two other island countries that have their owncharming appeal: Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

As part of a campaign to further acquaint cruise ships and their passengers with the array of tourist services and attractions available in Iceland, the Cruise Iceland association has been founded.

Travel has become an important part of people’s lives today. Each country has its own particular characteristics. Iceland is an ideal place for those who want to enjoy life while relaxing and improving their health. Its charm is intrinsically linked to nature that is as bold as it is beautiful. Just as important is the ease and convenience of traveling around the island, and the personal security one feels.

Briefly stated, it’s a good idea to visit Iceland, even if just for a weekend. The first thing you’ll notice after landing is the fresh, clean air. Then, as soon as possible, get yourself a drink of water from a faucet––you won’t get better water anywhere, which why it is called Champagne of the North. Time passes quickly in Iceland as there is a wonderful array of activities available to travelers. But most important is that after staying in Iceland you will feel better––in both body and soul!
