| Cruise Iceland
Cruise Iceland, an umbrella association
for companies providing
services for cruise ships visiting
Iceland, was recently founded. One of
its primary tasks is to promote Iceland as
an exciting destination for cruise ships.
3000 passengers
Major developments have been
occurring in the construction of cruise
ships in recent years. The vessels are
getting larger, carrying up to 3000 passengers
on what are in reality floating
cities that offer a wide range of services
and amenities. The first cruise ship visited
Iceland about 100 years ago, and last
year 135 vessels made port in Iceland.
Island in the sea
Iceland is an island along the upper
reaches of the North Atlantic, situated
between Greenland and the Faroe
Islands. This geographical area is exotic,
yet it has long been unfamiliar. Today,
the allure of the North is expanding as
ever-increasing numbers of travelers
are drawn to this enchanting area. The
characteristics of the North are purity,
freshness, wondrous nature, and extraordinary
wildlife.
Travelers to traditional tourist
destinations are steadily increasing, but many are looking to discover new and
different places.
Iceland – like no other
country
Iceland is one of the world’s most
distinct countries. There is the ongoing
conflict between fire and ice, water and
erosion. Majestic glaciers, black deserts,
white shorelines, lava fields, green
meadows, and deep valleys and fjords
make up Iceland, a country of diverse
landscapes. Iceland is also one of the
most sparsely populated countries on the
planet.
Reykjavík, the capital, is a captivating “little, big city” that surprises.
Various activities are available to tourists,
for example glacier trips, horseback
adventures, and whale watching. And
then there is so very much nature to
experience: powerful waterfalls, hot
springs, the midnight sun, and the
Northern Lights. Cultural life in Iceland
is also diverse, the nightlife colorful,
and Icelandic restaurants offer amazing
dishes made from fresh, clean Icelandic
raw materials. Iceland is therefore an
ideal destination for a cruise ship.
